He was born at Brush on November 20, 1957, and had lived in Akron his entire life until joining the Marine Corps in 1977.

He attended grade and high school in Akron, graduating with the class of 1976. He was in Who's Who Among High School Students for two years, and was the recipient of a citizenship award. Tim was homecoming attendant during his sophomore year, and was a member of the "A" club. Tim joined the Marine Corps Delay Entry Program in February 1977, and was called to active duty for training at Sand Diego, California in September of 1977. Salley and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Vaughn, also of Akron, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
